Adding YakChat into a Microsoft Teams Channel

Adding the YakChat App to a Teams Channel 

Follow these steps to add YakChat to your Microsoft Teams channel and connect it to an inbox.

Step 1: Ensure YakChat is installed in Teams

  1. Verify that YakChat is installed in your Microsoft Teams environment.
  2. If you need help, use the this article for support.

Step 2: Add YakChat to a channel

  1. Go to the channel where you want to add YakChat.
  2. Click the + button to add an app.
  3. In the pop-up window, select the YakChat app and click Save.
Note: Please make sure to add YakChat to a Standard or Public channel, as it does not work in Private channels.

Step 3: Connect YakChat to an inbox

  1. If you are assigned to only one inbox, it will connect automatically.
  2. If you are assigned to multiple inboxes:
    • Post @yakchat connect in the channel.
    • YakChat will send an adaptive card so you can choose the correct inbox.
    • Select the inbox and click OK.
Step 4: Notification Settings
  1. Go to the channel.
  2. Open the channel notification settings.
  3. Choose "Show in Activity and banner".
  4. Check the "Include thread replies" check box.
  5. Click Save.
Note: This is a per user setting so each user needs to follow this step to get these notifications.
