Overview
There are several actions that you can perform in each chat. To find the chat action menu, click the ellipses at the top right of the screen, once the chat is already selected. The Chat Actions are then at the bottom of the menu.
- Close Chat
- Mark as unread
- Assigning Chat to an Owner
- Copy Chat
- Export Chat Messages
These chat actions can be used to enhance your YakChat experience.
Close Chat
Closing a chat is a way of archiving a chat so that it no longer appears in your main inbox. These messages are still accessible under the filter options,
click here to read more about the filter options.
You can close a chat from the chat Actions menu by clicking Close Chat. Alternatively, you can close a chat from the Messages panel. Go to the Messages tab and on the chat, you would like to close click the ellipses button. On the pop-up menu select Close chat.
A chat will reopen when the chat receives a message, if you would like to reopen a chat that hasn't had a new message follow these steps:
1. Using the filter options, go to your closed chat
. Click here for help with your filter options. 2. On the chat you would like to reopen click the ellipses button and select Reopen chat.
Mark as unread
Messages can be marked as unread so that you can come back to them later. This action can be done on the chat Actions menu by clicking the Mark as unread button.
Alternatively, you can mark a message as unread from the Messages tab. Choose a
chat you would like to mark as unread, click the ellipses button and select Mark as unread.

Assigning chat to an owner
If you find yourself in a scenario where you are a member of a shared inbox and would like different users to manage different chat, you can select the Assign Owner or Assign to me button in the chat Actions menu. When selecting Assign to me the chat will be assigned to you straight away.
When using the Assign Owner button, a pop-up menu will show any other users that are part of the inbox, select which user you would like to assign to be the owner of the chat. A symbol will now show on the chat selector indicating who the chat is owned by. The chat owner will also be notified if the contact responds to the chat at any time via the YakBot. Another way to easily choose the owner of a chat when you have a shared inbox is within the Messages tab, this way you do not have to open a chat. To do this follow the steps below.
1. On the Messages tab, choose a chat to assign and click the ellipsis for that chat. Select either assign to me or Assign Owner.
2. If you have selected Assign Owner a pop-up menu will show any users that are part of the inbox that can be assigned. Select who to assign the chat to.
A symbol will now show on the chat selector indicating who the chat is owned by. The chat owner will also be notified if the contact responds to the chat at any time via the YakBot. For help setting up YakBot notifications click here.
It is also easy to filter the
chat and find any

Copy Chat Messages
The copy messages button will copy all chat messages to your clipboard, allowing you to paste these messages where you need them.
Export Chat Messages
Selecting the Export Messages button will download a CSV file including the history of that individual chat. This can be used for archiving purposes or as an easy way to send your chat history to someone.
Click the Export Messages button within the Chat Actions menu to export your chat, a CSV file will be added to your download folder.
