Upgrading YakChat for Microsoft Teams from version 1.0.x to 2.1
Overview
The following instructions describe how to upgrade from YakChat 1.0.x to the latest version of YakChat available in the Microsoft Teams app store.
Upgrade Instructions
Step 1: Remove for YakChat 1.0.x for a single user or Teams channel
Perform the following steps to uninstall for each individual Microsoft Teams user:
a. Disable YakBot for a Shared Inbox
- Disable YakBot for a Personal Inbox. Open YakBot and go to the Chat tab or, alternatively, navigate to Chat in Microsoft Teams and select YakBot and type the word "signout".
- Navigate to to the Teams channel where YakBot is installed and sign-out of YakBot by mentioning the bot and type the "signout" and click send e.g. "@yakbot signout"
- Select the YakChat tab and then use the chevron in the same tab to open the pop-up menu and select Remove to remove the tab from the Teams channel
- Click on the three dots beside the Team where the channel is located and select Manage team from the pop-up menu
- Select the Apps tab and then click on the three dots in the YakBot row and select Remove to remove it from the Team
b. Uninstall YakChat and YakBot
- Open YakChat 1.0.x so that the icon is displayed in the Microsoft Teams sidebar, then right click on the YakChat icon and select Uninstall from the pop-out menu
- Open YakBot 1.0.x or 2.0.x so that the icon is displayed in the Microsoft Teams sidebar, then right click on the YakChat icon and select Uninstall from the pop-out menu
This will uninstalled YakChat 1.0.x and YakBot 1.0.x/2.0.x for a single user but it will remain available for other users and it will still be available in the Apps page of team in the Built for your organization section.
Step 2: Remove YakChat 1.0.x for all users

Remove an app from Teams to remove YakChat 1.0.x for all Microsoft Teams users or use the following steps:
- Got to your Microsoft Teams Admin Portal
- Navigate to Teams apps > Manage apps
- Search for "YakChat" using the Search by name box on the righthand side
- Click on the YakChat app and click on the Actions drop down menu positioned at the top right of the page and select Delete or Block
- Repeat for "YakBot" by searching for "YakBot" using the Search by name box on the righthand side
Removing the app using the Microsoft Teams Admin Portal does not always remove the app for each user, especially if they have pinned the app to the Teams sidebar, but users will be unable to use the app once it has been deleted or blocked (which can take a period of time to take affect).
Step 3: Install the latest version of YakChat
Follow the
Install YakChat for Teams instructions to add the newest version of YakChat that is available from the Microsoft Teams store.
