Sending SMS

A quick walkthrough to compose and send an SMS in YakChat, including an alternative flow from your Contacts.

Follow these steps to send an SMS from YakChat.

Step 1: Choose your sending inbox

  1. Open YakChat.
  2. Select the inbox you want to send from.

Step 2: Start a new message

  1. Click the + button to start a new message.

Step 3: Address your message

  1. In the To field, enter your contact’s name or phone number.

Step 4: Compose your message

  1. Above the text box, use the drop-down menu and select SMS.
  2. Type your message.
  3. Click the emoji icon and choose any emoji you’d like to include.
Tip: Keep an eye on the segment counter—it shows how many message segments your text will use as you type.

Tip: Need a new line without sending? Press Shift + Enter and keep typing.

Step 5: Send your message

  1. Press Enter or click Send to deliver your message.

Step 6: Send directly from Contacts (alternative)

  1. Navigate to the contact list.
  2. Choose a contact.
  3. Click Message, then compose and send.
