New Contact Management - View SharePoint Contacts
Overview
SharePoint allows users to create custom contact lists where they can store contact information such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, job titles, and any other relevant details and with our New Contact Management feature you can seamlessly connect SharePoint contacts to YakChat for organized and accessible contacts and to facilitate effective communication and networking.
Find your Sharepoint root site
The most important thing to consider when creating a list of contacts in SharePoint is to ensure that your list is in the root site of your Microsoft tenant. The root site URL is in the following format: https://<YourTenantName>.sharepoint.com.
If you are unsure what your tenant name is, then follow these steps to find your root site:
- Open SharePoint within Microsoft 365 in your browser and ensure that you are on the SharePoint home page.
- In the browser, remove the text ‘sharepoint.com’ e.g. from the full URL: "https://yakchat.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/sharepoint.aspx" remove "/_layouts/15/sharepoint.aspx" to leave "https://yakchat.sharepoint.com" and refresh the browser with this URL.
Click on the +New drop-down menu and select App and select the "classic experience". A list of classic SharePoint app tiles will be displayed. Select the Contacts App and enter a name for your Contacts list. Then select Create.
Select + New in the menu ribbon of your Sharepoint Contact List, and add the contact that you will share with your co-workers who have permission to view your Sharepoint site. Now click Save to add your contact.
After saving your contact, check that your Contacts list is displayed in SharePoint Contents and that you can open the list and view its contacts.
Go to Contacts then click on Sharepoint button and your new Contact List and contact should be displayed in the contact list. Additional Microsoft authorization maybe required for YakChat to access your Sharepoint site which will require your Microsoft 365 administrator to provide their consent.
