Upgrading YakChat for Microsoft Teams from version 2.0.x to 2.2.x
Overview
The following instructions describe how to upgrade from YakChat 2.0.x to the latest version of YakChat available in the Microsoft Teams app store.
Uninstall YakChat 2.0.x for a single user (Personal inbox)
Use the following steps to uninstall YakChat for a single Microsoft Teams using a Personal inbox/number.
1. Sign-out of YakChat in Teams chat
- Click on the Chat tab in Microsoft Teams, find and select the chat named "YakChatBot_Live"
- Select Signout from the Suggestions menu or type the word "signout" in the Type a message box in Teams and click send.
- YakChat will responded with "You have successfully signed out"
2. Block bot conversation
- After signing out (step 1), hover over the chat named "YakChatBot_Live" and click on the three dots to display the pop-out menu.
- Click on the "Block bot conversation" menu to block further messages from the YakChat 2.0 bot.
3. Uninstall YakChat
- Open YakChat 2.0 so that the icon is displayed in the Microsoft Teams sidebar, then right click on the YakChat icon and select Uninstall from the pop-out menu
- This will uninstall YakChat 2.0 for a single user but it will remain available for other users and it will still be available in the Apps page of team in the Built for your organization section.
Uninstall YakChat 2.0.x from a Microsoft Team (Shared inbox)
1. Remove YakChat tab from the Teams channel
- Navigate to to the Teams channel where YakChat is installed and sign-out of YakChat the bot by mentioning @yakchat and type the "signout" and click send e.g. "@yakchat signout"
- Select the YakChat tab and then use the chevron in the same tab to open the pop-up menu and select Remove to remove the tab from the Teams channel
2. Uninstall YakChat from the Team
- Click on the three dots beside the Team where the channel is located and select Manage team from the pop-up menu.
- Select the Apps tab and then click on the three dots in the YakChat row and select Remove to remove it from the Team.
3. Uninstall the YakChat App
- Open YakChat 2.0 so that the icon is displayed in the Microsoft Teams sidebar, then right click on the YakChat icon and select Uninstall from the pop-out menu
- This will uninstall YakChat 2.0 for a single user but it will remain available for other users and it will still be available in the Apps page of team in the Built for your organization section.
Uninstall YakChat 2.0.x from Microsoft Teams tenant

Remove an app from Teams to remove YakChat 2.0.x for all Microsoft Teams users or use the following steps:
- Got to your Microsoft Teams Admin Portal
- Navigate to Teams apps > Manage apps
- Search for "YakChat" using the Search by name box on the righthand side
- Click on the YakChat app and click on the Actions drop down menu positioned at the top right of the page and select Delete or Block
Note: Removing the app using the Microsoft Teams Admin Portal does not always remove the app for each user, especially if they have pinned the app to the Teams sidebar, but users will be unable to use the app once it has been deleted or blocked (which can take a period of time to take affect).
Install the latest version of YakChat
Follow the
Install YakChat for Teams instructions to add the newest version of YakChat that is available from the Microsoft Teams store.
