How to Set Up an Out of Office Auto Reply

Overview

The Out of Office (OOO) feature—commonly used in email systems—is now available in YakChat for SMS messaging. When enabled, it automatically responds to incoming text messages, letting senders know you're currently unavailable. This is ideal if you're away from work, on vacation, or otherwise unable to respond right away.


Steps to Set Up an Out of Office Auto Reply

  1. Go to the Settings menu, and navigate to the Out of Office tab. 
  2. Choose the Inbox you would like to set an Out of Office message for.
  3. Toggle the setting On and enter the message you want to be sent as a reply to any inbound messages.
  4. (Optional) To automatically turn on and off the Out of Office message:
    1. Check the box labeled "Send replies during a specific time period."
    2. Set the Start and the End date and time.
  5. Click Save to activate your Out of Office message.

Tips
  1. Be clear and professional in your auto reply message.
  2. Mention when you'll be available again, if possible.

When your Out of Office message is active, a banner will appear to remind you that automated replies are enabled for your inbox. You can update or disable your Out of Office at any time by clicking the Manage button on the banner, or from the Settings page.
