Group tags allow users to group and categorize contacts by department, region or any other common characteristic.
Manage Group Tags
This article will guide you on how to create and delete a group tag, add contacts to a tag, search and view contacts within a group tag, message contacts
In the YakChat app, open the Contacts window by selecting 'Contacts' from the drop-down main menu.
Then click on the Group tags tab.
Create a Group Tag
To create a new Group tag:
Click the Add Tag button next to 'Add contact' at the top right corner of the Contacts page.
Enter the tag name, and click Save.
Your new group tag is ready to use.
Delete a Group Tag
To delete a Group tag, select the Group tag from the tag list.
In the Tag information panel, click on the three dots and select Delete group tag.
Confirm your action.
Add contacts to a Group tag
You can add contacts to a tag in multiple ways:
When creating a new contact, by selecting one or more tags with the Add tags button.
You can also add group tags in the same way to an existing contact.
From the Chats window, by opening the Contact information panel.
Messaging Group Tags
Find a Group tag
Open the Contacts window by selecting 'Contacts' from the dropdown menu.
Then, click on the Group Tags tab.
In the search bar enter the name of your Group tag.
Message a Group tag
There are multiple ways to send a message to a Group tag:
Through the Group tags page
Locate and select the desired Group tag.
In the Tag Information panel, click the Message contacts button to send a message to everyone in that group tag.
Compose your message and click Send
From the Contacts tab
Choose a contact within the group tag.
Click on the tag name.
On the tag tile, select Message contacts to start a conversation with everyone in that group tag.
From the Chats window
Open the Chats window by selecting 'Chats' from the dropdown menu.
Click the '+' button to send a new message.
In the 'To:' bar type and select the name of the desired Group tag.
All contacts in the Group tag will be added to the message.
