Overview

Importing contacts allow you to import a large number of contacts quickly into YakChat. Currently YakChat supports importing up to 1000 contacts. 

The importing file must be a CSV and XLS files and all phone numbers must be in the E164 format (e.g. +14111111111).

Step 1: Using the template

1. YakChat has created a template to make it easier to create a file that is in the correct format. To find this template go to the Contacts and click the  

2. Upload Contact File Page 1 of 3 will show up and a Download a template hyperlink will be available

3. Make sure that at least the First name and the Phone number are included for each contact.

1. To import contacts, go to the Contacts and click the  button

2. Either drag and drop your file or click Browse to open you file explorer to open your file. 

3. Once the file has been uploaded you will be redirected to the next page, this is where you can ensure that your CSV or XLS file matches the YakChat format. For each heading select what this is called in your CSV or XLS file. 

4. You may choose the contacts visibility. Click the toggle if the contact is supposed to be for Everyone, then select View only or View and Edit permissions by clicking on the toggle. 

5. Add one or more tags and once done click Next

6. Check that your contacts have been added correctly and then click Import Contacts. 

7. Your imported contacts will appear in your YakChat contacts list.
