Receiving and Responding to a Message in Webex

Overview

This article guides you on how you can send a new text message in Webex and how you can reply as a chat in a Webex Space.


Webex Pop-up Received Notification

When a new text message is received it will be added to Webex as a chat message.  A new Webex space with the phone number will be created or use an existing space if one exists for the phone number.  A Webex pop-up notification will be displayed for each new text message in the same way as other chat notifications and when selected will display the new text message that was received.



Send a New Text Message in Webex

1. When the bot was installed into Webex a space will have been added. 
2. Search for [yourbotname] and select this space
3. Enter the phone number you would like to send a text to, a space (character space) and then the text message then send in the same way as a chat message.



This will send a text message to the number and create a new space using the number as the space name. 
4. After pressing send, a new conversation space will open on Webex, this will be displayed with the number as the conversation title.
Opening this conversation will provide you with details about the message sent with its delivery status. 


Replying as a chat in a Webex space

1. To reply to a message in a Webex space, first click on the space and type your response in the message bar



2. Select the Send button or Enter
Confirmation will be provided as a chat when the text message has been successfully sent.
